Leinster Girls end 11-year drought in Interpros
Leinster won the Girls Interprovincial title for the first time since 2003 thanks to a 4-2 win over defending champions Ulster on the final day at Donagahdee, writes the ILGU
Ulster had won the title eight times in the last nine years but Leinster were determined from the outset and in the revised format of two foursomes and four singles in each round, team manager Mary Culliton's strategy of maintaining the same foursomes pairings paid off with both pairs remaining unbeaten over the three rounds.
Meadhbh Doyle and Lauren Walsh beat Clare Calvert and Laura McCaw 1 up before Nicole McGavisk and Elisa Corcoran defeated Becky McNiece and Anna Morwood 3 and 2 to put Leinster 2-0 up.
Then in the singles wins for Julie McCarthy over fellow international Annabel Wilson and by Ciara Casey over Judithe Allen secured a famous win.
