Good week for Irish trio in Marbella
Killarney's Tommy O'Driscoll was 10th and The Island's Kevin Le Blanc 11th in the Copa Andalucía Masculina near Marbella on Sunday.
Junior Open champion Le Blanc had the better of it on the final day, carding an eagle, three birdies, one bogey and a double bogey (at the ninth) in a two under par 70 at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina.
He finished on three over par, the same mark as O'Driscoll, who was fifth overnight and level par for the day with six holes to play before finishing weakly.
The 18-year old Irish Development Squad player bogeyed the 12th and 14th and then double bogeyed the 15th after going out of bounds before finishing bogey-birdie-bogey.
Limerick's Mark MacGrath claimed 31st place on 12 over after a closing 74 as Spain's Pep Angles birdied the 18th to pip compatriot Mario Galiano to the title by a stroke.
Angles had five birdies and just one bogey in a 68, finishing a stroke ahead of Galiano (68) on 11 under par with another Spaniard, Victor Pastor, third on seven under after a 70.
All three Irish participants were reportedly happy with the experience and played above their ranking for the event.
Playing off +1.8, Le Blanc was ranked 24th in the entry list with O'Driscoll (+1.1) 35th and MacGrath (0.3) 77th.
