AIG to sponsor ILGU's Ladies Cups and Shields

AIG Insurance and the Irish Ladies Golf Union have announced details of a sponsorship that will see the leading international insurance organisation become the title sponsor for a host of ILGU District and National competitions. 

The AIG Ladies Cups and Shields, as they will now be known, will be backed by the insurer for the next four years further strengthening the support AIG Insurance offers to amateur golf in Ireland.

The new deal will see AIG Insurance become the title sponsor of the AIG Senior Foursomes, the AIG Junior Foursomes, the AIG Junior Cup, the AIG Intermediate Cup, the AIG Minor Cup and the AIG Challenge Cup.  In 2014 AIG Insurance began sponsorship of the ILGU’s membership cards as well as the AIG Irish Ladies Senior Cup.

Commenting on the announcement General Manager of AIG Insurance in Ireland, Declan O’Rourke said: “We are delighted to be extending our relationship with the ILGU. This four year sponsorship shows our commitment to ladies amateur golf in Ireland.

"We hope that this sponsorship will give the ILGU the support it needs to achieve its strategic ambitions. We’re confident the deal will allow the ILGU further promote the game across the country.

“In 2013, AIG Insurance was the first company to sponsor both the ladies’ and men’s Dublin GAA teams.  Now we are building on our existing relationship with ladies’ golf mirroring our long standing sponsorship of the men’s game.  AIG Insurance is committed to promoting grass roots sports for both male and females all over Ireland”.

Irish Ladies Golf Union Chief Executive, Sinéad Heraty added; “The ILGU is delighted that AIG Insurance have come on board to sponsor the AIG Ladies Cups and Shields.  Sponsorship is very difficult to come by and for women’s and girl’s golf in Ireland to have the backing of AIG Insurance is a massive vote of confidence in what we are doing to promote and develop the game.  We’re delighted to have AIG Insurance as a proud supporter of what we do."

AIG Insurance are offering ladies amateur golfers discounted car, home and travel insurance products as part of the sponsorship deal by logging on to www.aig.ie/ilgu or calling 1890 405 405.  ILGU members can avail of 15% off car and home insurance policies with a further 20% loyalty discount off home insurance for existing car policy holders.  They can also take advantage of 10% off travel insurance.
