This week's European Nations Cup at Sotogrande will give some of Ireland's top amateurs the chance to hone their game's for next week's Spanish Amateur Open — the prestigious King's Cup.
While there are no Irish women in action at La Reserva at Sotogrande, Olivia Mehaffey, Chloe Ryan, Sinead Sexton and Maria Dunne are all entered for the Queen's Cup, which will be played at the Real Club Pineda de Sevilla from 25 February to 1 March.
The King's Cup will be played at Sherry Golf in Jerez de la Frontera in Cádiz, also from 25 February to 1 March with Jack Hume, Gavin Moynihan, Gary Hurley, Dermot McElroy, Robin Dawson, Richard Bridges, John-Ross Galbraith, Geoff Lenehan and Colm Campbell all in the field with several other Irish players on the waiting list, including Daniel Holland and Tiarnan McLarnon.
However, a much smaller field is in action at the testing La Reserva course at Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande for this week's prestigious European Nations Cup with Ireland represented by Hume, Moynihan, Hurley and Campbell.
Hosts Spain and a strong English team will be the favourites for the title with 14 nations featuring the top amateurs from Europe in action.
