Gleeson and Ross streak clear in Intervarsity tests at The European Club

UCD's Alex Gleeson has a seven-shot lead heading into the final round of the Irish Intervarsity Championship at The European Club in Co Wicklow.
The Castle golfer added a splendid second round of 71 to his opening 75 at the stunning Brittas Bay links to lead on four over par 146 from club-mate Jack Walsh (Maynooth University), who followed his opening 79 with a 74.
One shot further back are Walsh’s fellow Maynooth students Sean Flanagan and Stuart Grehan while defending champion Declan Loftus, who carded an opening 76, faded with a second round of 86.
Queens' Jessica Ross leads the Ladies Championship by six shots on 157 from Sinead Sexton (Maynooth) after overnight leader Carla Reynolds slipped 11 strokes off the pace.
