Phelan chases big pay-day in Joburg
Kevin Phelan made two birdies in one under 71 to give hismelf a chance of making a decent cheque in the Joburg Open.
Without a full card and ranked 166th in Race to Dubai after playing just two event this seasonn, the 24-year old Waterford man is tied for 16th, just five shots behind leader Wallie Coetsee.
The South African, 42, shot 70 on the East Course to take a two shot lead over compatriots Jacques Blaauw and Tjaart van der Walt and English pair David Howell and Steve Webster into the final round at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club.
"You need to keep a positive mind, me and my caddie are enjoying it out there and hopefully we can tomorrow," Coetsee said.
"There is a lot at stake, more than you can think of, but it's just a game at the end of the day. Last night I only slept for about four hours but tonight I think I'm going to have a lot of sleep."
