Round up: Mallorca reduced to 54 holes; O'Rourke shines on Gecko Tour
Copa de Baleares — Kevin LeBlanc, Jamie Fletcher and Tommy O'Driscoll will have to wait until Friday to go into action after torrential rain forced officials to reduce the Copa de Baleares to 54 holes at Pula Golf in Mallorca.
Won by Alejandro Larrazábal by an incredible 11 shots last year and offering World Amateur Golf Ranking points, the event will give the Irish hopefuls some crucial experience as well as the chance to climb the world rankings. Tee times
Gecko Pro Tour — Naas' Conor O'Rourke gave his confidence another small boost when he finished as the leading amateur on the Gecko Pro Tour in Spain this week.
The GUI Development Panel member tied for 23rd at Rio Real Golf Club in Marbella, carding rounds of 77 and 75 to finish on eight over, two shots better than Headfort's Rory McNamara and three lower than last year's South of Ireland semi-finalist, Waterford amateur Eanna Griffin.
Spain's Borja Etchart won the event on two under par. Scores
O'Rourke made the cut in his first Gecko Pro Tour event recently and may well prove to be a championship contender on the domestic circuit this year.
