Late dash hinders Grant
Getting stuck in a traffic jam did Stephen Grant's game little good in the first round of the Alps de las Castillas — the first continental European event of the 2015 Alps Tour schedule.
A one over 73 at Golf Valdeluz near Guadalajara, a small city east of Madrid, left the 37-year old tied for 91st and nine shots behind the leader, Jean Pierre Verselin (64) of France.

The former footballer got the course "in the nick of time" and raced straight to the 10th tee, opening up with two birdies. But after mixing another three birdies with four bogeys, he dropped shots at his last two holes. Scoreboard
Ballyliffin's Brendan McCarroll was four under after seven holes, dropped three shots in four holes after the turn but then birdied his 14th and 16th holes for a three under 69 and a share of 31st.
