Europro Tour — Two time South of Ireland winner Simon Ward leads the Irish after the opening round of the The Dawson and Sanderson Foreign Exchange Classic at Longhirst Hall.
The Carrickmacross man was the only Irish player to break par, carding a one under 71 to share 12th place, four strokes behind England's Sam Connor.

Web.com Tour — West Waterford's Seamus Power is six strokes behind American Tommy Gainey after the opening round of the Greater Dallas Open.
Power made five birdies in a three under 69 on the Lakes at Castle Hills near Lewisville to share 59th spot as Gainey posted a bogey free, nine under 63 to head the field by one. Scores
PGA TOUR — Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama made four birdies on each nine to surge into a tie for the lead at the Memorial Tournament.
Matsuyama carded a bogey-free 64 to move joint-top of the leaderboard alongside Bo van Pelt, who fired 10 birdies during his round to set the early pace.
