Kearney and Caldwell cruise into Second Stage

Royal Dublin’s Niall Kearney and Clandeboye’s Jonathan Caldwell cruised through the First Qualifying Stage Section D of the European Tour Qualifying School.

Kearney fired a two under 70 and Caldwell a 71 to leave them tied fifth at a venue where exactly 25 players (the top 23 and ties) progressed to next month’s Second Stage in Spain.

The Irish pair finished on seven under par, just two strokes behind Philip Eriksson and Daniel Kay as the cut off fell at level par 288.

The Island’s David Rawluk ended up eight shots off the pace after a closing 75.
