US Women's Open — Slieve Russell amateur Leona Maguire bogeyed her final hole to miss the cut by one stroke in the US Women's Open at CordeVale in California.

The world No 2 and Duke University star, 21, bogeyed three of her first five holes to go five over for the championship but then birdied the 15th and 17th to sit a stroke inside the projected cut mark with nine holes to play.

Having started at the 10th, a bogey at the first left her on the mark and she then dropped another shot at the last to add a 75 to her opening 74 and miss out by the slimmest of margins.

South Korea dominates the leaderboard with Sung Hyun Park adding a 66 to her opening 70 to lead by two strokes on eight under from Amy Yang and Mirim Lee.

Lydia Ko shot 66 to share fourth with Japan's Haru Nomura and lies three off the pace on five under.

McNamara on the rise

EPD Tour — Headfort's Rory McNamara fired a two under 68 to move up 34 spots in the KOSAIDO Düsseldorf Open 2016.
At one under par he's 11 shots behind Hinrich Arkenau who added a 65 to his opening 63 to lead on 12 under.
Scores
The cut fell at one over which meant that Stackstown left-hander Richard Bridges missed out by two after rounds of 72 and 71 with Chris Carroll (73 79) well back on 152.

Irish out in Saint Malo

Alps Tour — Ireland's trio of hopefuls missed the cut in the Saint-Malo Golf Open in Normandy.

The cut fell at level par 144 which meant that Thomas O'Driscoll (74-74 148), Declan Loftus (78-71/149) and David Carey (76-79/155) missed out.

Scores

Italy's Stefano Pitoni shot rounds of 65 and 67 to lead by three on 12 under from Andrew Cooley and Raphael Marguery.

Seamus teetering

Web.com Tour — Seamus Power faced an anxious wait to see if he would make the cut in the weather delayed LECOM Health Challenge in New York.
He added a four under 68 to his opening 73 to finish on three under par and was lying tied for 71st when play was suspended due to darkness with 12 players still to finish at Peek'n Peak Resort's Upper Course.
Scores
Rhein Gibson and Swiss Sebastian Cappelen lead on 12 under par.
