Harri putter; Pádraig shoots 65 at Travelers
Pádraig Harrington appears to be peaking perfectly for the Olympics Games in Rio after a third round 65 catapulted him into the Top 20 at the Travelers Championship.
The Dubliner, 44, moved more than 40 places up the leaderboard to tied 15th as he followed an early bogey six at his fourth hole ( the 13th at TP River Highlands) with a six birdies.
Even better for his hope of qualifying for the FedExCup playoffs — the top 125 qualify for the first event — he's within a shot of the Top 13 finish he needs to get himself to around 115th as he will miss two events to play in Rio and stay on afterwards to watch the Games.
Four of the birdies came in his last seven holes in a homeward nine of 31 but what will be even more pleasing for Harrington is that he holed putts outside eight feet.
The three-time major winner has been hitting the ball well from tee to green for some time and a second Saturday 65 in a row will do wonders for his confidence heading to Rio on Sunday night.
At the top of the leaderboard, Daniel Berger shot an eight under par 62 to lead by three strokes on 15 under par from Russell Knox (64), Tyrone Van Aswegen (65) and Russell Henley (65) with Patrick Rodgers (66) five shots off the lead on 10 under.
