Irish in Q-School battle; Carey hangs on
David Carey is the only Irish player inside the qualifying places at halfway in the First Qualifying Stage Section C at Ribagolfe in Portugal.

Former Walker Cup player Gavin Moynihan shot a two over 74 and lies two shots outside the top 23 on one over par with Maynooth Univeristy graduate Declan Loftus back in tied 36th on three over after a 77.
England’s Henry Smart leads by four strokes on 11 under par from Spain’s Antonio Hortal while at Golf d’Hardelot England’s JAck Harrison and French amateur Nicolas Maheut lead on seven under after a venue where the top 24 and ties will progress to the Second Stage.
Limerick’s Tim Rice is the only Irishman taking part but the 39-year old is a shot outside the qualifying mark on one over par.
After carding a 73 in round one, he made six birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey in a one under par 70 to share 26th place.
