Power remains in top 25 in California
Seamus Power wasn’t firing on all cylinders but still continued his consistent start to the season by carding a two under 70 to remain inside the top 25 in the CareerBuilder Challenge in California.
The West Waterford man’s two under 70 left him tied for 21st on seven under par, seven strokes behind Hudson Swafford.
Playing the Stadium Course at LaQuinta, Power will have been disappointed to end his day with a bogey after he drove into the right rough and failed to get up and down from 45 yards.
But it wasn’t a day when a lot went right for the Tooraneena man and some good putting helped him finish the day in the red.
He had to make a good seven footer for par at the first after leaving himself 20 yards away, just off the green.
He birdied the third from six feet, missed birdie chances inside 12 feet at the short, par-four seventh and the par-five eighth but then made from five feet at the ninth and eight feet at the 10th for par before rolling in a 25 footer for birdie at the 613-yard 11th.
He had to hole an eight footer to avoid three-putting the par-five 16th after an indifferent wedge left him a 65 footer.
So while a missed 10 footer at the 18th was not part of the plan, he still has a chance to make a move up the leaderboard today.
