McMullen fifth in Spanish Seniors
The Island's Gertie McMullen had to settle for a share of fifth in the Spanish International Senior Ladies Amateur Championship in Malaga.
Tied for the lead with Tita McCart of the Netherlands entering the final round, one clear of the field, she closed with a 79 to finish four shots behind Siene Dresselhuys of the Netherlands on 17-over 233 at Parador Málaga Golf.
Dresselhuys closed with a level par 72 —the best score of the week by two strokes— to win by three shots from McCart (78), Belgium's Sylvie Van Molle (77) and Wales' Jane Rees (77).
Mary MacLaren (41st, 252), Catherine Reilly (42nd, 253), Helen Jones (42nd, 253), Kate Evans (51st, 256) and Vivienne Houston (59th, 263) completed the Irish challenge.
