Favourites to win next month's Masters
With the Masters and Golf’s final major of an unprecedented year just under a month away, we look forward to the event and who is looking most likely to put on that famous green jacket on Sunday evening.
This continues the return for golf and sports around the world with many having to have an extended break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
That has led to online entertainment platforms being the choice for sports fans, with many using the Spin Online casino, to play a host of the most popular games on the market. The platform also offers sports betting, which is another that is likely to be popular when the Masters comes around.
Of course, current champion Tiger Woods will be coming back to Augusta National this year and wanting to defend his green jacket and first major since 2008. Woods is currently priced at 25/1 to win the major, so is a bit of an outsider, but what a fairy-tale story it would be on top of what has been touted as one of the greatest sporting comebacks of all time. Tiger has had an up and down 2020, as have many due to the global pandemic caused by Covid-19 but we know he’ll be bringing his A-game next month.
If we are talking about favourites coming into the competition, it’s difficult to look past the last US Open major winner in Bryson Dechambeau who is currently favourite to win at 8/1. During 2020, Dechambeau has made some serious changes to his golf game to enhance his performance and boy did he defy the odds at the US Open. Due to putting on so much size during the height of the lockdown, Bryson calculated that the further he hit it regardless of direction, he is more likely to win if closer to the pin than his opponent. Many experts thought this would never work, however, he proved them all wrong and he’ll be looking to do the same again next month.
Rory Mcllroy is of course in contention when it comes to major tournaments and is usually there or thereabouts when it comes to the final round of a major. However, he hasn’t won one since 2014 but it might be around time for Rory to turn his major luck around. Moreover, the Masters is the only major that Rory hasn’t won, and he has been in glittering form since the return of Golf, so he is certainly one to watch; Rory would be our pick and is available at 11/1.
One player that will be looking to create history by taking home their first major title is that of Jon Rahm – currently sitting at 2nd in the world ranking, which is a career-high for the American. Rahm will be looking to leave his mark on the majors by bettering his 4th position back in 2018 at Augusta. With all the promise that Jon Rahm has been showing over the past couple of years, it’s about time he repaid that faith in him and he can be backed at 12/1.
And finally, and a little bit of an outsider is that of Patrick Reed priced at 35/1, which is an exceptional price for someone who always seems to be in the mix going into the weekend of the major. Reed has won a WGC this year and finished in the top 15 of both majors, so is in steady form going into the last major of a year. However, since his 2018 win at the Masters, he has never finished better than t-22 and has missed the cut in two of his five other Masters appearances.
