Positive for Purcell and McKibbin and McBride suffers at Korn Ferry Q-School
Conor Purcell carded a three-under 69 in the second round to move to within a shot of the qualifying places a the Second Stage of the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School in Alabama.
The Dubliner made eight birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on the RTJ Golf Trail at Highland Oaks to share 29th place on two-under, just a shot outside the top 20 and ties who will progress to next month’s final stage.
Holywood’s Tom McKibbin was tied 42nd on level par after mixing four bogeys with three bogeys in a one-under 71.
Meanwhile, Paul McBride’s hopes of progressing at Plantation Preserve in Florida suffered a blow when he made two birdies, four bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey in a seven-over 78 to fall back to tied 69th on six-over, 10 strokes outside the top 20 and ties.
