Naas ace Jonathan Yates will tee it up in the Mackenzie Tour-PGA TOUR Canada Q-School today.
The former West of Ireland champion and Alps Tour regular (27) tees it up in the U.S. East 2 qualifier — one of six qualifiers for what is the PGA Tour Canada — at Mission Inn Club and Resort’s El Campeón course in Howey-in-the-Hills, near Orlando in Florida.
Yates, who tees it up at 1340 Irish time with Canada’s Marc-Olivier Plasse and Grant Renegar, plans to return to Europe to play on the Alps Tour this spring as the Mackenzie Tour is not scheduled to begin until the summer.
The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada was unable to play any of its 2020 season because of complications at the Canada-U.S. border caused by COVID-19.
The Mackenzie Tour return to competition last week with the first of six qualifiers on US soil before the traditional Canada Q-School is held in British Columbia in late May.
Each qualifying tournament is 72-hole medal play contested over four days.
Six players came through the first Qualifying Tournament—U.S. East No. 1 Q-School—at Weston Florida last Friday with Colombia’s Camilo Aguado winning by three shots at The Club at Weston Hills.
