Moran 19th as Cope wins St Andrews Links Trophy after playoff

Jack Cope won the St Andrews Links Trophy after a playoff as Robert Moran headed the Irish challenge at the Home of Golf.
English Amateur champion Cope closed with a bogey-free 67 to tie with England’s Robin Williams and Scotland’s George Burns on eight-under-par.
Cope prevailed in the shoot-out at the fourth extra hole as Moran finished 19th on one-under after closing rounds of 73 and 71 on the Old Course.
Malone’s Matthew McClean tied for 28th on three-over while Royal Dublin’s Richard Knightly, who was a shot off the pace at halfway, slipped out of contention with a third-round 83 before falling with a 73 in the final round to tie for 43rd on six-over.
