Carne Golf Links to host Irish PGA again in 2022

Carne Golf Links in Co Mayo will host its second successive Irish PGA Championship from August 18-20 this year.
The 2021 edition of Ireland’s oldest Championship, which numbers major champions Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke among previous winners, marked the official opening of the Wild Atlantic Dunes course at the stunning Belmullet venue.
David Higgins gave Ireland’s youngest course a baptism to remember with a birdie at the final hole to finish a shot clear of Mark Staunton and claim the €6,000 first prize.
It was the second time the Waterville Golf Club pro had won the trophy and he will be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories when this year’s 54-hole tournament is contested again in August
Sponsored again by Columbia Sportswear, the championship will be preceded by a Pro-Am on August 17.
