Katie Poots wins Fairhaven Trophy; Sean Keeling ninth in Boys event
Knock’s Katie Poots won the 2022 Fairhaven Girls Trophy by two shots on one-under-par.
Part of a four-strong Golf Ireland team that travelled to the north-west English coast, Poots was the only player to go under par in the last two rounds, adding rounds of two-under 73 and three-under 72 to a brace of 77s to finish a shot ahead of England’s Isla McDonald-O’Brien on one-under 299.
Clandeboye’s Rebekah Gardner finished in third place on seven-over as she followed a third-round 81 with an excellent final round of 73.
In the Fairhaven Boys Trophy, Sean Keeling was the top Irish player, finishing in ninth place on level par.
The Roganstown golfer finished ten shots behind England’s Ben Brown, who won by five strokes.
Four Irish players made the cut in total, with James Walsh finishing in 12th, Adam Buchanan in 20th and Noah Bickerstaff in 30th.
