Carey lurking in Milan; Phelan just three back in Korea
David Carey’s four-under 67 left the Golf Ireland golfer just three shots behind leader Alessandro Tadini heading into the final round of the Alps Tour’s weather delayed Molinetto Alps Open in Milan.
The Darwin Escapes sponsored player made four birdies and an eagle three to share seventh place on eight-under par.
Tadini shot an eight-under 63 to lead by a shot from compatriot Gregorio De Leo on 11-under par.
Round two was suspended in the afternoon due to dangerous weather in the area and play resumed after a 99-minute delay before being suspended for the day due to darkness.
Play will resume at 7:30 am on Friday with Conor Purcell (68) five shots off the pace on six-under with Gary Hurley four-under after a battling 71.
Meanwhile, Waterford’s Kevin Phelan was tied for fifth, three shots behind leader Dongmin Lee after opening with a three-under 68 in the Asian Tour’s Caltex Maekyung Open at Namseoul Country Club in Korea.
