Top-ten boost for Mark Power in UAE Challenge

Mark Power jumped straight into the top 51 in the Road to Mallorca ranking when he tied for sixth in the UAE Challenge on the HotelPlanner Tour.
The former Walker Cup star is relying on invitations to make his mark on Europe’s second-tier tour this year and he took advantage of his first start at Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club in Ajman.
Power (24) made six birdies and five bogeys in a rollercoaster 71 to finish eight shots behind Renato Paratore on 14-under and secure an automatic start in this week’s Abu Dhabi Challenge, saving him from using another valuable invitation.
The Italian fired a bogey-free, seven-under 65 to win by two strokes from South African JC Ritchie on 22-under.
Paratore, whose last win came at the Betfred British Masters on the DP World Tour five years ago, jumped seventh in the Road to Mallorca Rankings as he looks to secure a swift return to the main tour.
Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy moved up seven places to 72nd in the Road to Mallorca standings after he carded a bogey-free 67 to tie for 26th on nine-under.
In South Africa, France’s Perrine Delacour claimed her second Ladies European Tour win in the Investec South African Women’s Open.
She closed with a two-under 70 to win by two shots from South Africa’s Casandra Alexander on 14-under at Erinvale Country & Golf Estate near Cape Town.
Castlerock’s Annabel Wilson finished an LET career-best tied 20th on five-under after a 69 with Anna Foster and Lauren Walsh joint 38th on three-under after respective rounds of 70 and 74.
