On a hectic morning in Clandeboye where heavy rain fell, 48 of Ireland’s best amateur golfers decided this year’s Ulster Men’s and Women’s Amateur Strokeplay Open Championship.

Heavy overnight rain on the north coast meant play was delayed by thirty minutes on the opening day of the Ulster Men’s & Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Open Championships but the wait did nothing to hamper the play of Adam Buchanan (Royal Portrush) and Annabel Wilson (Castlerock) as both take an overnight lead into the final round at Clandeboye Golf Club.

Max Kennedy may not make the Walker Cup this year but he will certainly have the selectors’ attention over the next few months after going six extra holes to clinch a thrilling play-off victory in the Ulster Men’s Amateur Stroke Play Open Championship at Clandeboye.
