Ever wanted to compare your skills with a European Tour winner or a Walker or Ryder Cup player? Well, here’s your chance.

According to Shaun McBride, the Director of Golf for Single Figure Golfer, you can win the chance play under former Walker Cup skipper Peter McEvoy in a 10-strong amateur side against a team of former Ryder Cup, Walker Cup and Solheim Cup stars.

Team Single Figure Golfer (SFG) will take on stars Alison Nicholas, Gordon Brand Jnr, Steve Richardson, Roger Chapman, Philip Walton, John McHenry, Paul Way, Gordon Brand Snr, Joanne Morley, Jeremy Robinson and John Hawksworth in the two-day SGF Challenge Cup final at Trevose Golf Club in Cornwall in October this year.

Four single figure Irish golfers will have the opportunity to be part of this team and follow up on the amateur team’s success at the Celtic Manor Resort last October.

Single Figure Golfer has created a qualifying process which gives single figure golfers from all parts of Ireland the opportunity to be part of this team.

A series of regional tours will lead to a Regional final in May were the winner and runner up will secure their places on the team.

In Dublin, qualifying starts at Portmarnock Links on Tuesday 9th March and will run for the following five weeks.  Each event carries ranking points on the Dublin mini tour.  The top 10 in the order of merit on this mini tour will qualify for the Irish Final in May.

All participants will receive “a sleeve of Srixon Golf Balls, one year’s free membership of Single Figure Golfer and other golfing goodies.”

A timesheet  is available in Portmarnock Links Hotel. The full schedule and entry details can be found at www.singlefiguregolfer.ie.  Detail of new events also posted on the Single Figure Golfer Facebook page.

What is Single Figure Golfer?
SingleFigureGolfer (SFG) is a unique community for Single Figure Golfers based around a tour and exclusive benefits. A SFG is a ‘Single Figure Golfer’ who has a single figure handicap.

Membership cannot be bought by paying for it, you simply have to be good enough. SFG’s will have access to an exclusive tour, tournaments, offers, custom-made clothing and travel breaks. The SFG Tour is the flagship product of the company where players compete in regional tournaments to win their place within the UK and Ireland SFG team captained by Peter McEvoy.

Each year the UK and Ireland SFG team will play against an ‘International Team’ consisting of ex Ryder Cup, Walker Cup and Solheim cup players in a grand finale to the season. All players must have a valid handicap to play and will be asked for Handicap Card or Certificate before play commences.
