Turner makes progress in the Philippines
Muskerry’s Niall Turner made his third cut from four starts in the Asian Tour’s ICTSI Philippine Open at the wonderfully named Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in Manila.
The Munster man carded three birdies and three bogeys in a second successive, level par 72 to qualify with ease in 22nd place in the $300,000 event.
The former University of Minnesota graudate, who stands 77th in the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit with $8,704, is six strokes behind leaders Himmat Rai of India and local hope Jay Bayron.
“It was hot out there and the wind picked up later in the afternoon,” said Rai. “The wind was swirling but I managed my shots well to give myself a chance in the weekend.”
