Grant scores at Q-School

Former Shamrock Rovers forward Stephen Grant closed with a sensational four under 68 to make it to Stage Two of the European Tour Qualifying School.

The winger turned swinger, 34, qualified on the one-under par limit in a Section B qualifier at Fleesensee in Germany.

If he comes thorough Stage Two in Spain in the first week in December, he will have a chance to battle for his European Tour card the following week in the Final Stage at PGA Golf de Catalunya.

Ross Oliver was the best of the Irish at the Wychwood Park qualifier in Cheshire but finished six shots outside the three over par qualifying mark for the top 25 and ties. 

Amateur Matthew McAlpin missed out by eight shots on 11 over with Damian Mooney well off the pace on 16 over.
