Devlin and McGee on track at School
Chris Devlin slipped to joint second place as Ruaidhri McGee moved up to tied ninth with a round to go in the European Tour Qualiying School Stage One Section D qualifier at Frilford Heath.
Devlin followed his second round 64 with a one over 73 that left him a shot behind Welshman Liam Bond (70) on six under. Scores
Spain based Derry native McGee, 21, shot a level par 72 at a venue where the top 29 and ties go through to Stage Two on next month.
Ballybunion’s John Daniel Guiney is just a shot outside the qualifying places on four over after a 72 but Headfort amateur Brian Casey (75 for +11), the Island’s David Rawluk (83 for +17) and Mike Kelly (79 +18), missed the 54-hole cut.
The third round will be completed at Ribagolfe in Portugal today with Andy Hogan and Mick McGeady just inside the top 29 and ties to qualify places after 36 holes. Scores
Glen Robinson did manage to finish his round, carding a four over 76 to provisionally share 59th place on five over with Dara Lernihan (73) on nine over and Alan Glynn (74) 16 over, waiting to see if they are among those within seven shots of the last qualifying place to qualify for the final round.
The Second Stage takes place across four venues in Spain – Campo de Golf El Saler, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club, El Valle Golf Resort and Lumine Golf & Beach Club – from November 7-10.
Approximately 310 players will line up at those four venues, with about 80 progressing through to the Final Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort – also a European Tour Course - from November 24-29.
The top 25 and ties will earn tour cards.
