Rough day for Grant

“Course played very tough today crazy wind again only 2 players broke par I shot 74 missed 2 fairways by few feet, both times lost ball,” the former professional footballer tweeted. “Rough is knee high in spots also had 3 three putts. Feel like I have missed great opportunity to move up leaderboard. One more day left.”

Spain’s Carlos Aguilar shot a level par 70 to lead by two strokes on five under par from Dane Jeppe Huldahl in the €160,000 event.

The lowest score of the day was compiled by Huldahl who defied tricky cross-winds and carded just a solitary bogey in his three under par 67.

A level par round of 70 moved Aguilar’s compatriot Ignacio Elvira up to third place on two under par, one stroke ahead of the English duo Peter Baker and Eddie Pepperell, Denmark’s Rasmus Hjelm and Italian Gregory Molteni.

Grant, 35, is tied for 21st on four over par with Ballyliffin’s Brendan McCarroll a shot further back after a two over 72.

Ballymena’s Chris Devlin dropped five shots in his first three holes and posted a 78 to share 50th on 12 over.
