Knock’s Nicky Grant is lurking just a shot off the lead in the Midlands Senior Scratch Cup at Carlow. Picture by Pat CashmanNaas’ Conor O’Rourke added a 73 to his opening 71 to take a one-stroke lead into Sunday’s final 36 holes of the Midlands Senior Scratch Cup at Carlow.

He leads on four over par 144 from Irish international Nicky Grant of Knock, Rathsallagh’s Jack Hume and Castle’s Daniel Holland.

Grant’s afternoon 71 was the best score of the second round while Holland shot the lowest round of the tournament so far with a level par 70 giving him the first round lead.

The cut fell at 19 over par 159 while defending champion Jack Pierse missing out after a 77 and a no-return in the afternoon.
