Castletroy’s Chloe Ryan is near the top of the leaderboard in the Helm Holm Scottish Amateur Open at Royal Troon. Castletroy’s Chloe Ryan and Carlow’s Aedín Murphy fired level par 75s in the worsening conditions to lead the Irish challenge at the Scottish Women’s Open Stroke Play (Helen Holm Trophy) at Royal Troon.

The pair are seven shots behind overnight leader Olivia Winning of England, one of the first of the early morning starters, who added a three under par 72 to her opening 70 to lead by one from Welsh Curtis Cup star Amy Boulden (67) and Heswall’s Rachel Goodall (70) on eight under.

Joint second overnight, Skerries’ Maria Dunne and Holywood’s Jessica Carty both returned 79s in windy conditions to slip to joint 14th where they are joined by Slive Russell’s Leona Maguire after she signed for a 76.

Olivia Mehaffey’s 77 saw her finish the day tied for 18th on two over with Ballybunion’s Emma O’Driscoll tied for 27th on three over after a 76.

Lisa Maguire (82) is seven over with Bangor’s Victoria Bradshaw (81) eight over as the cut for the top 60 and ties falling at 10 over ahead of Sunday’s final 18 holes at Royal Troon.
