Higgins claims Heritage Challenge title

David Higgins won the Heritage Challenge Pro-Am, sponsored by Aidan O'Connell & Associates Ltd

Waterville's David Higgins carded rounds of 68 and 75 to win The Heritage Challenge Pro-Am on Monday.

The 42-year-old fired a four under par 68 on Sunday to take a one shot lead over Colm Moriarty after the opening day of play.

With the weather conditions taking a turn for the worst overnight, the experienced Co Kerry based professional dug deep to grind out a second round three over par 75 yesterday.

His two round total of one under par gave him a two shot victory over Colm Moriarty (Drive Golf Performance).

Elm Park's Dara Lernihan finished alone in third place on three over but had the consolation of guiding his playing partners to victory in the team competition with a 168 point total.

On Tuesday (June 2) the Flogas Pro-Am will he hosted by the Knightsbrook Resort, Trim.
