Alex Maguire triumphs in Irish Under 14 Amateur Open

Laytown and Bettystown's Alex Maguire recovered from a double bogey seven at the fifth with birdies at the 11th, 13th and 17th to card what proved to be a winning, one under 70 in the Irish Under 14 Boys Amateur Open for the Craddock Trophy at Roscrea,
One of the earlier starters, his score proved unbeatable though Slieve Russell’s Odhran Maguire, a brother of twins Lisa and Leona, came closest with level-par 71 that was worth second place.
Muskerry’s Jack Egan, Lisburn’s Aaron Marshall and Clandeboye’s Scott Miller all finished a further two shots back with 73s with Royal Tara’s Sean Whelan in sixth place after a 74.
