Q-School: Dunne and Hume on cruise control; Whitson rallies
Walker Cup heroes Paul Dunne and Jack Hume continued their impressive progress at the First Stage of the European Tour Qualifying School at Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf in Austria.
Rookie Greystones professional Dunne had six birdies, one bogey and a double bogey five in a three under 69 as Naas amateur Hume had four birdies, one bogey and a double in a 71 to leave them tied for seventh on five under at a venue where the top 21 and ties will progress to the Second Stage at four Spanish venues in November
They are six shots behind American Dodge Kemmer, who leads the field by three on 11 under after rounds of 68 and 65. Scores in Austria
At Collingtree Park in England, where torrential rain led to a lengthy delay on Tuesday, they are still playing catch up with half the field returning today to complete their second rounds.
They include Clontarf's Eamonn Brady, who was provisionally tied 20th after his opening 72 at a venue where 20 percent of the field will progress to the Second Stage. Collingtree scores
Royal County Down's Reeve Whitson opened with a disappointing 78 but while he bounced back well in round two with a 69 to move up to tied 49th on three over, he will likely need two more rounds in he 60s to progress.
