Hood and Mullarney fly the flag in Portugal

Jordan Hood is tied for 10th place but fellow Maynooth University team mate Ronan Mullarney was the only other Irish player to make the 54-hole cut in the Portuguese International Amateur Championship.

In a disappointing week for the Irish challenge, the other eight GUI travellers missed the cut at Montado.

Hood added a 71 to rounds of 74 and 69 to trail leader Guido Migliozzi of Italy by nine strokes on two under par.

Migliozzi leads by two from compatriot Andrea Saracino while Galway native Mullarney made the cut on four over par mark thanks to a two under par back nine for a third round 70.

Co Louth’s Thomas Mulligan eagled the 17th to get within one of the cut mark but bogeyed the last for a 74 to miss by two on six over while Eanna Griffin’s 73 left him four outside the mark.
