Morrow heads top class field for Munster Seniors
Portmarnock’s Adrian Morrow will head a strong 120-strong field for the Munster Senior Amateur Open at Tramore Golf Club from May 10-11.
The event has a new sponsor with the Majestic Hotel Tramore agreeing to support the prestigious championship. And the club is also looking forward to another big week following last year’s Irish Close Championship.
Following an upgrade of the course under the guidance of Jeff Howes, Tramore now boasts 27 holes with sand based greens constructed to USGA standard.
Tramore Golf Club was awarded Club of the Year at the Annual Delegates meeting of Munster Golf last November.
Holder Tom Cleary is not in the field due to holiday commitments but three-time winner Arthur Pierse will be aiming for an unprecedented fourth win. The 2015 runner up. John Mitchell, will carry local hopes and he’s joined in the field by fellow Irish Senior Internationals Morrow and Maurice Kelly.
Gareth McGimpsey is another player who will be hoping to improve on last year’s top ten finish.
Tramore’s Francis Reynolds, Kevin Murray, John Hayden and Michael Sullivan will also be hoping that local knowledge can help them during the two rounds.
