Scratch Cup round up - Ballybunion, Warrenpoint, Kilkenny

There were several major scratch cups over the weekend with Graham Nugent, Fergal O’Sullivan and Stefan Greenberg taking the honours.

Kilkenny member Nugent won the Kilkenny Senior Scratch Cup sponsored by David Buggy Motors by following a two over over par 73 with a five under par 66 to win by two shots on three under.

Peter McEvoy Trophy winner Mark Power, who was two under at one stage and in contention all afternoon was one of a large group on one under. 

Tralee’s Fergal O’Sullivan, a son of Ballybunion and Tralee member Gerard O Sullivan, shot rounds of 72 (Cashen) and 70 (Old) to win the Ballybunion Senior Scratch Cup.

By all accounts, the newly reopened, pure fescue green complexes on the Old Course received a huge thumbs up from all concerned.  [Read all about the changes in Golf Course Architecture's January issue.]

At Warrenpoint, Stefan Greenberg won by two shots from Paul Reavey on 138 with international Dermot McElroy finishing third.
