Metcalfe sets course record en route to Hermitage win

Laytown and Bettystown’s Eleanor Metcalfe fired a course record 68 en route to victory over Kirkistown Castle’s Beth Coulter in the 48th Hermitage Ladies Scratch Cup.
Her five-under par opening effort on the revamped course gave her a one stroke lead over Clandeboye’s Jessica Ross before she went on to post a 72 in the afternoon to win by two strokes from the Coulter, who shot 69 in the afternoon, on six-under 140.
Ross was third on one-over 147 with Hermitage’s Ciara Casey, who was seeking her third win in four years, finishing fourth on 148
