Ireland cruise into quarters at European Men's and Ladies' Seniors
Ireland qualified for today's quarter-finals of both the European Senior Ladies' and the European Senior Men's Team Championships.
Both teams were edged out for the leading qualifier honours after a countback on the sixth card.
The men's event at Rungsted Golf Club in Denmark, Ireland tied with Scotland 10-over par, three shots ahead of Denmark and as second seeds they now face defending champions Germany in the quarter-finals.
Scotland’s Ronnie Clarke was the leading individual on four-under par with Ballybunion’s Peter Sheehan sixth and Greystones’ Alan Condren ninth on level par 144.
The women's team tied with Sweden after two qualifying rounds at BlackSeaRama Golf Resort in Bulgaria and as second seeds they now face the Netherlands for a place in the semi-finals tomorrow.
East Berkshire’s Laura Webb was second individually 153, one stroke behind Spain’s Maria Orueta.
