Bearna retained their title in the AIG Women’s Junior Foursomes after some thrilling matches against Dromoland in the final.

Dromoland put the first point on the board with a 4&2 win but Bearna were looking strong in the back two matches as they were both dormy. Ailis McDermott and Caroline Kenny Codyre were 5up with five holes to go but Dromoland kept fighting and brought the match to the 16th hole. The Bearna pairing won the 16th to give them a 4&2 win.

The final pairing of Elizabeth Neville and Nuala Timoney gave Bearna the final point they needed to claim their third AIG Women’s Junior Foursomes title with a 4&2 win. Team captain, Clare Cunningham was thrilled to be bringing the trophy back home to Connacht

“Absolutely fantastic. The girls had a great win last year and we were so happy to get this far this year and it's just such an accomplishment for the team to keep the title and to bring it home in such style,” said Cunningham.

“We had a great semi-final yesterday against Old Conna and a fantastic final today against Dromoland. It’s a bit surreal at the moment. Team have just been absolutely fantastic and my co-captain Louise, amazing. Bearna is just for a small club, absolutely amazing. The friendship and camaraderie is just unbelievable.

“We've had such support from the whole club, the men the ladies, outside the club from other teams in Connacht and we’re absolutely blown out of the water to have done it again this year and just couldn’t be any happier.”

Limerick Golf Club won their fifth AIG Men’s Junior Cup title after a great performance against Greystones Golf Club.

Jack Whelan put an early point on the board for Limerick again today with a 7&6 win. Luke Carey who birdied the 19th hole in yesterday’s semi-final to give Limerick victory continued his fine form today as he birdied the 15th hole to win his match 4&3.

Mark Dore held his nerve on the 15th hole as he slotted in a five-footer for a half to win his match 4&3 and give Limerick the title. Team captain Nick Sinnott is delighted with his team as they will be bringing the green pennant back to Limerick for the first time in 34 years.

“I’m just thrilled for all our squad. It's the first time since 1988 when we won, and we have just a fantastic bunch of players. Two really, really, good young men, boys turned into men this year. We had a great squad, great backing from the club and I’m just so proud of all the boys,” said Sinnott.

In the AIG Men’s Pierce Purcell Shield All-Ireland Final, it was Spanish Point who triumphed over Cahir Park in as close a final as one can witness.

With the overall score tied at 2-2, match one would prove to be the decider as the quartet of players headed down the 19th for a playoff with teammates and supporters watching on. On the first playoff hole, Spanish Point’s Jonathan Kyle and Fergus O’Brien capitalised on the opportunity to seal the win for the Clare team.

Spanish Point’s team captain Noel Connellan was at a loss for words after watching his team come through the tightest of matches. “

It’s absolutely overwhelming. The camaraderie between all the members of Spanish Point Golf Club, the camaraderie between the team members and the manager of the team Mervin Hehir was overwhelming. Words cannot describe what it’s like to win an All-Ireland Final.”

In the last of the day’s finals, it was Portumna who were crowned AIG Women’s Challenge Cup champions after a hard-fought victory over Corrstown.

In a similarly close encounter to the Pierce Purcell, everything hinged on the last match out on course which saw Portumna’s Ena Moran secure the win on the 18th.

Portumna’s captain Sharon Heenan was joyous after leading her side to the club’s first ever AIG Women’s Challenge Cup success.

“It's unbelievable, what a tremendous achievement. I’m so delighted, so excited for our ladies. Unbelievable, very unreal right now. Ask me again tomorrow when it sinks in but today it's just very unreal.”
