McDermott crashes out at West

This afternoon's quarter-final line-up has been decided in the West of Ireland Championship at Rosses Point.

But there is no place for Co Sligo's Gary McDermott who three-putted the 18th from 12 feet and lost his third round match by one hole to England's Jonathan Hurst.

Hurst will face the Curragh's Paul O'Hanlon with Michael Sinclair of Knock taking on Mullingar's Dessie Morgan.

In the top half of the draw, Irish Close champion Shane Lowry faces Ulsterman Ryan Boal with the winner of that one taking on Eddie McCormack or Michael Lavelle in tomorrow monring's semi-finals.
