Grant top Irishman on Gateway Tour
Former winger turned swinger Stephen Grant is the leading Irish player after the first four events of the Gateway Tour's "Beach Winter Series" in Florida.
The former professional footballer, 31, has earned $4,892 so far and lies 21st on the money list with Michael McDermott ranked 33rd with $2,050.
Grant's best finish came at Hammock Creek Golf Club, where he finished tied for ninth on one-under par to earn $2,300.
However, former South of Ireland champion Cian McNamara and Edenderry's Ger Hall have yet to make their mark and missed the cut in every event they have played so far.
On the Gateway Tour's "Winter Desert Series" in Arizona, Muskerry's Niall Turner has picked up $4,002 from three starts.
His best finish came at Palm Valley's Palms Course last week, where he closed with a nine-under par 63 to tie for tenth place and earn $2,920.
