Birthday boy Buggy best at New Ross

Castlecomer’s Michael Buggy defied gale force wins to win the gross prize in the South East Alliance outing at New Ross on Sunday.

The plus one handicapper celebrated his 36th birthday by shooting a two over 72 as seven handicapper Victor Smyth took the nett with a 71 from Peter Mullaney.

Kilkenny’s Graham Nugent took the second gross with a 74 on a day when “a six iron distance called for a well struck three-wood,” according to Alliance organiser Tim Murphy.
